-I’m living in constant fear of the snow that supposed to come on Sunday after all this gorgeous sun. I’ve rocked flip-flops pretty much every day this week and I don’t like the idea of that changing… let’ s just be clear about that.

-People who are inappropriate and misbehave at parades? Not children…nope…ADULTS. You are shameless and I am ashamed FOR you-the 98 cent pansy flower that we are handing out is not going to change your world…and if it does…go into someone’s garden and yank one out of there. In fact..I bet you can just go to Pat Sullivan and ask for one- he’d probably give it to you because NO ONE CARES ABOUT PANSIES! (except maybe Caleb)

-If you hear what sounds like twinkling bells floating in the air- that’s my voice- it’s back!

-The Lovely Miss Ryno got a gorgeous hair cut- that’s what happens when your hair is cut by a Naptown Roller Girl- those bizznnitches know how to get shit DONE! (They also have a bout this weekend- shameless plug- you should go!)

-Going to see Dr. Fang today- more reasons I think he’s a vampire…

1. His name- obviously is Dr. Fang- and the more glaring the name the less likely we are to suspect him.

2. He’s an ear, nose, and THROAT doctor

3. I had to fill out ALL this ridiculous paperwork including my blood type and where I most like to be bit

-Don’t go into Sun City Tan unless you have the self control of a Monk…you won’t get out alive. (So my new friend Karl- that means you’re the only one I know who is allowed in… oh- and those Lego people I used in my diorama can go too.)

-My St. Patty’s Day memory…. Every year I meticulously wear green because one year in 3rd grade I went to school on St. Patrick’s Day wearing an all purple sweat suit.  I know what you’re thinking- what kind of a mother would not only let her child go to school on St. Patrick’s Day wearing no green and subject her to a day of pinching…but even FURTHER more- what kind of a mother lets her daughter wear an ALL PURPLE SWEAT SUIT!?!…..A mother who believes in tough love I guess.  So I had to go into the arts & crafts box and tape a ripped off piece of green construction paper to my shirt to stop the pinching…tragic…just tragic.

-Busy day today- so busy in fact I don’t have any time to tell you about my day to day life- because once again..woman of mystery.

I haven’t been in a parade since I think the Festival of Lights in Columbus 2 winters ago- craziness. I love parades- I’ll find any excuse to be in them…including but not limited to…

1. Wearing a costume

2. Throwing candy in the faces of children

3. Excess waving

Wait…scratch that..the last parade I was in was when Brittany Gray and I inappropriately got into Katie Stam’s parade in Seymour…and then waved like we were totally supposed to be in it..Sorry Katie!  LOL!

So Happy St. Patty’s Day! I realize after Sunday’s episode with my Mom thinking I was dead because I had not written a blog and then calling my sister last night and trying to tell her about my life only for her to stop me mid-sentence and say “yeah- I read it in your blog” that I need to stop TELLING you people stuff (and by telling I mean writing). LOL  The more I thought about it I realize when I go home for Holidays my family is like “yeah…we know” to every story I tell. UGH.

I am such a talented and brilliant writer that my stories are no longer interesting. *Gasp!* This cannot be!  So from now on consider me a woman of mystery! In fact- I may or may NOT be in a parade today…you’ll never know. Sooo many questions that you will not have answers to. Did I have Special K for breakfast? Who’s to say? Did Rachel and I go on the Monon yesterday and almost get eaten alive by all 3 animals from Homeward Bound?

I have no idea…and neither will you…just accept it.

In other news: Big thanks to my special Brother-In-Law John for helping me get ready for the purchase of a new computer. (I will be setting my old one on fire in a special ceremony to send it back to Hell where it came from.)

I honestly have no business making technological decisions for myself. Every good piece of electronics I’ve ever owned was purchased for me by someone else who knew what they were doing and if it wasn’t then you can bet for sure it is currently broken or not working correctly.  You know I’m not a femi-nazi and I also don’t take kindly to the old “girls should not do ‘this’ ” HOWEVER- I can say one thing: NIKKI should not be in charge of electronics. PERIOD. I am not at all capable of making those decisions OR not clicking on things that may or may not be viruses.

So…if anyone in my life would like to put themselves in charge of my NEW computer once I get it…that’d be swell… I’d bake you cookies. That’s all I’m saying.

OK- now I’m off to do more things that you will have to call me on the phone to hear about. You hear that Mom??

Well I have crawled out of my lair…slowly. Here’s the rundown of the weekend since last night my mother called me to make sure I wasn’t dead because I hadn’t written a blog all weekend. LOL

-Friday: Allie’s birthday party at our house

-Saturday: Shamrock Run downtown with Sara- whoot! Suck on that Bucket List! Then headed to Rushville with Ryan & Daniel for the Shannahan/Sheehan Shananagans…that’s what I’m calling it. So much fun finally spending some sweet time with Heath & Ashley and also introducing myself to Heath’s family, mixing up all their names and occupations. (Like thinking Heath’s aunt was his mom, his cousin was his brother, etc…safe to say I won’t be invited to the family reunion!)

-Sunday: Day of rest and no talking. (Just like the Lord intended) I just sat and read Bible stories and sacrificed a lamb in the back yard…the neighbors were a little upset.

Also- finally sat down to do some good ol’ internet surfing and what happens? Computer crashes…AGAIN. That piece of junk has literally NEVER worked right since the day I got it. And since it was a gift that I’m convinced was purchased off the black market I have none of the warranties or anything like that. I have no claims to this computer. ARRGG!  TECHNOLOGY HAAATTTEEESS MEEEEEEEE!!! I quit, I quit, I quit.

-Monday: Woke up and literally no sound came out…no voice. Well- a radio DJ is only as good as the sound coming out of her mouth…so I was useless.   PLUS- I was not allowed to talk AND I had no internet. I watched ALL the shows on the freaking DVR- I even watched the Bonnie Hunt show- which…I mean…is awful.  I also finished my book too…I was crawling up the walls.

(And not in a cool, Spiderman way…but more of a shameless..crack addict way)

So I finally got to leave the house for a Dr. appointment- this being my primary care doctor- NOT the specialist who- no matter how much I call will not see me until Thursday. (Damn you Dr. Fang!)  So Dr. Maxwell gave me some sweet sweet antibiotics and some throat spray. I’ve got my meds arsenal going on right now- Chloraseptic, Entertainers Secret, Ibuprofen, Ricola, antibiotics, and bottled water. BRING IT TONSILS! So since I couldn’t stand being in my house another second- thankfully my lovely, unemployed friend Rachel was packing before her big move so we sprung each other out and walked her dogs. Then more sitting on the couch wanting to be ANYWHERE but the couch.

So that’s the run-down- I am officially back at work today but I’m pretty much now allowing myself to talk unless I’m on the air- it’s safer that way.  I do sound MUCH better today than I did yesterday so let’s keep movin’ in that direction!

In the mean time- pray to the computer gods for me- I’ll need this one…and maybe another lamb to set on fire?

Basic gist for those of you too lazy to click the link (I get that way sometimes too) a high school girl who is a lesbian wanted to bring her girlfriend to prom and wear a tuxedo. The school didn’t just say no- instead they cancelled the whole prom.  Ideally so that this girl would not only not be able to go to the dance but would also suffer the wrath of her classmates as well. OK- I’m not here to argue views on homosexuality with you (seeing as from the video in the previous post obviously tells you how I feel about that lol) but here are my two issues with this whole thing:

In February the school had students write up a prom conduct code of sorts for acceptable clothing/dates/ etc. The students chose to make one of the rules that a person’s date must be of the opposite sex.

Problem #1: If that were the case then the school could simply have told this girl “no” because of the rules set in the conduct code. Why the H did they cancel the ENTIRE prom?? Unless of course, to make an example of this young girl.

Problem #2: I grew up in a town that would probably have reacted similarly to a situation involving a homosexual lifestyle- push it under the rug and send them to “Turn ‘em straight summer camp” (as what did happen to some of my friends). And TONS of girls went to prom together.  It was called ‘I don’t have a date to prom, hey Sally, my best friend, let’s be dates!” and it wasn’t a big freaking deal!  So again- I get that this school obviously has an issue with homosexuality but why would a code of conduct explicitly state that dates must be of the opposite sex when potentially a group of girls could go together, get their pictures taken together, and dance on the dance floor and *gasp!* NOT be gay?

OK….this is the end of my part about not trying to change your views on homosexuality…

(ok…maybe it didn’t go QUITE like that- but I did indicate that I needed to see someone very soon) so they referred me to a triage nurse who got me in next week to see him- I guess she had more pull…or yelled louder?

My problem is that I worry by then they may be better again and good ol’ Dr. Fang will just go “huh- oh well” and we’ll never fix the problem. Maybe I’ll take video of it and email it to him so he can look at them all interactively. Anyone good at holding a flashlight?

So in my attempt to contribute to the world yesterday I emptied the trash, went down to UIndy and worked on some radio stuff (since of course my Adobe Audition free trial expired and for some reason my Cool Edit pro likes to turn all of my wavs into unsupported files since the great computer crash of 2009. ARGG),

went on a long walk with Ryno, decided AGAINST eating out (I’m telling you- that was rough) and folded my laundry. Not bad for someone whose tonsils are killing her from the inside out. LOL

It was such an amazing day yesterday- gorgeous sunshine! I opened every window in the house that I could and I’m contemplating getting a lawn chair. I think I need one of those chairs that you can lay out on.

Then even if I’m not getting a tan I can read outside.  I still have not rescued my other chairs from Brittany Gray and so I think a purchase is in store for me. (Maybe I can find one on ebay?) OK…on ebay they are all from the 70’s but because they put “vintage” ahead of it that means these older than hell chairs are selling for $90…

my parents had those chairs too and they break- easily…. (no Mon & Dad…it wasn’t US who broke them….it was…the neighbor kids). So I guess I’ll need a new lawn chair plan. I’ll see what I can cook up….OHHH! Maybe we just need a hammock??  Does Allie have 2 trees near each other?…….nope…not at all. Damn. OK…well once the ground dries out then I guess I’ll just do a good ol’ fashioned ground camp out…until then? Maybe flag pole sitta? (20 points for obscure 90’s music reference!)

Today my tonsils are still run down but at least the fever is gone. Also- gave my calf muscles a break from running and high heels and so they’ve been feeling a TON better. And my heart has calmed down too. I think early this week I just hit my wall of “quit doing that!” from my body- so things are much calmer today. I think I get to jump on the treadmill again today since I took a few days off.

In the mean time? WOOT! Tomorrow’s Friday suckas!

Went to my doctor yesterday to get the Tons’s checked out (I feel like they need to be nicknamed now because we talk about them way too often) and they did the strep test- which- if you’ve never had it- they take the world’s biggest Q-tip (I think they borrow that from the gynecologist) and stick it in the back of your throat and swirl it around and around until your uvula gets wrapped all the way around it and then they pull it out.

No worries though- I’m strep-less. Then Dr. Maxwell looks inside my throat, feels my throat glands which at that point feel like I am stashing bouncy balls in there for later.

She decides that I need to go and see an Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist. Sigh.  So I’m going to try to see if I can get in today. I think I will give the following excuses to get in as soon as possible:

1. I AM in fact stashing bouncy balls in my glands and they need to be removed immediately.

2. My tonsils are holding me hostage and say if their demands aren’t met they will close together and I will stop breathing.

3. I’m the next American Idol and Ryan Seacrest is waiting on me to perform and I can’t do that with broken tonsils.

4. Do it or I’ll cry.

All good options. So we’ll see how bright and early Dr. Fang gets up down there in Greenwood. I hope he’s free today BECAUSE not only does he have a cool name (and is probably a vampire)

he also did his internship at Butterwoth Hospital (no- not the syrup)

where like half my family was born in Michigan! So we’ll have so much in common and stuff to talk about while he’s using the tongue depressor!

Last night I got home and crashed. This whole thing is wiping me out a little bit. Just sort of making me feel grody so I pretty much was in bed by 7pm. Allie came home and was like “ew- you look really pale” and I felt really pale so that worked out just fine.

LOL So hopefully we can get this busnazz taken care of today. I know I’ve spent 6 years avoiding the inevitable with my tonsils being removed but at this point I feel bad enough I’m ready for them to go. Adios buddies! I’ll pay for your gas money.

So until further notice I’ll be laying on my desk in between traffic reports.

My body is revolting against me.

Let’s just do a little run-down.

My tonsils? They’ve been trying to pull this whole “infected” thing for like a week and I thought we had worked out a deal. You don’t get infected and I don’t have to pull you out myself. Well- they haven’t kept up their end of the deal so now I have to call the freaking doctor which you KNOW what that means. That quack is going to come at me with a scalpel and try and take them out- at which point I will promptly switch Doctors as I always do when they try to take them from me…

….I need them…for strategic sheep purposes. (20 bonus points if you get that)

My Stupid Heart is on the fritz again. Serious?  I go through this every year- it beats weirdly- it always has. And for some reason every once in a while I go through a bout of it not being the way its supposed to at all and then they send me to the hospital or heart specialist and they listen and listen and it doesn’t do the weird beating thing. Then I have to run on a treadmill looking like ET when the government got ahold of him all covered in those sticky heart monitor things.

OR- the worst! When they sent me HOME with a heart monitor all strapped to my body that I had to carry around for a few days and it STILL didn’t do the weird beating thing.  All that ends up happening is them saying they can’t find out what’s wrong and clearly I’m not dropping dead so it’s probably fine. Which I’m cool with too- let’s ALL just be cool and not mess with it- except the stupid thing has been freaking out for the past week and a half and it’s getting OLD. QUIT IT!

My calves! I have been doing the whole running thing- not Marathon- super-special runner thing- just “let’s do a few miles and feel special” type.  So my calf muscles have always been a little tight and since I’ve been running- no exception. Well- I think doing those stairs Sunday with Stacie must have done me in because I’m walking like a freaking Nutcracker.

The muscles are so messed up that my feet aren’t really bending when I walk so I look ridiculous AND it hurts like hell. I’ve been stretching them for the past few days, icy-hotting them, but nothing.  And of course the race is this weekend so I’m trying to get into a good place before I go and now I’m all broken.

So pretty much I’m just a hot mess. LOL I told Sara I feel like a rag doll- Just call me Raggedy Reed because I’m falling a-freaking-part.  SO until further notice it’s probably best to just wear masks and full on hazmat gear around me because I probably have SARS and Mad Cow disease too.

Friday:
-Gave some good ol’ B- at the Indiana Blood Center- who’s going with me next time?
-Got a library card!
-Alice in Wonderland with T-bombz and Ryan- Tim Burton…sigh…I’m not mad I’m just disappointed. I have two words to say “Edward Scissorhands” and by that I mean- remember when you made that movie and you actually BUILT sets and had real actors in it? Me too…and it was amazing. SO CUT IT OUT WITH THE CGI. It’s old and at the moment I hate you for being lazy. Looking forward to you making it up to me.

Saturday:
-The Contest! Pictures to follow but I haven’t had time to upload them yet. Terry did great- sadly had some shoulder trouble so he wasn’t able to finish the contest. But still great to see tons of other people we knew lift. Also some women who were not only impressive and breaking records but one of them looked like a chick from American Gladiators- I named her Starla…that wasn’t her real name but I liked my name choice better.

-Playing Driving Miss Ryno with Ryan, Trisha, and Daniel- hilarious. I’ll fill them all in later on the fun they had. hehehe

Sunday:
-Big/Little fun time with Stacie- we climbed ALL the steps in the Circle Center Monument- she was a trooper. Also took her on a tour of the station- she said she didn’t think anyone at her school would believe her if she told them she had been there. LOL cute.

The security guard at Emmis asked if she was my daughter. OHHH- hold on now buddy! LOL I actually have been getting that a lot lately- If I had a 13 year old daughter that means I was a slutty 11 year old…*shudders* Etch-A-Sketch that thought riiight out of my brain.

All great stuff! Gearing up for a not so busy week into another busy weekend. OY! LOL
